Kia Motors America has confirmed that they will debut the 2016 Sorento at the upcoming 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The automaker said the 2016 Sorento will be larger than the previous model and equipped with “luxurious amenities.” It will also feature three rows of seating and “capable enough to tackle any adventure-seeker's lifestyle.”
The larger North American version of the Kia crossover is likely to be based on the the long wheelbase Hyundai Santa Fe otherwise known as the Grand Santa Fe.
Aside from that Kia didn't provide further details regarding the 2016 Sorento, but from the looks of it, the vehicle has notable design tweaks compared to its Euro-spec counterpart which debuted in Paris.
The US-spec 2016 Sorento has a redesigned fog lamps along with chrome accent as seen on the front air intakes and side mirrors. Other notable design tweaks are the turn signals and the chrome rims.
In Europe, the Sorento is available in both 5 and 7 seat versions with a 40/20/40 second row split folding. Under the hood, three engines are available offering power outputs ranging from 185 to 200 PS. It includes a 2.4-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) unit and two turbo-diesel engines, in 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter capacities.
