The first race of the 2014 Toyota Vios Cup Season is set to take place at the Clark International Speedway this Saturday (May 24), following in the tire marks of the Vios Cup Exhibition Race last January 25.

Toyota Motor Philippines is filling the grid of the full track of the circuit with a total of 30 identical Vios Cup cars with Toyota dealer racing teams and privateer drivers competing for overall points and positions.

To add to the action, Toyota invited 5 celebrity drivers, 4 of which have already raced in the exhinition match such as Phoemela Baranda, Rhian Ramos, Fabio Ide and Jinno Rufino. Joining them will be new driver Sam YG, thus rounding out the Celebrity Division.

Toyota also invited 5 media drivers for the media division comprised of Manny Delos Reyes (Philippine Star), Anjo Perez (Manila Bulletin), Chris Kho (Time Attack Manila), Ira Panganiban (Autocar Philippines) and Ardie Lopez (C! Magazine). The celebrities and the media drivers will have their own separate categories in the race.

The 30 car grid will reportedly be the largest AAP/FIA sanctioned wheel-to-wheel race ever in the Philippines. Apart from the on track action at the Clark Speedway, TMP has prepared a full-day’s program of other side activities such as car displays, a car club track day, racing simulators and driving exhibitions.

Also gracing the event is the Drift King, Mr. Keiichi Tsuchiya as Toyota Motor Philippines will be flying Dori-Dori himself to perform a drift exhibition for the fans. Tsuchiya was featured in Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift and was widely responsible for the prominence of drifting, not to mention his role in molding Takumi Fujiwara in the Initial D manga and anime series.

Afterwards a party featuring the Itchyworms will take place to cap off the day's festivities. Admission to the event and the concert is free. According to Toyota the fun starts at 10AM on Saturday.

The 2014 Vios Cup is held in partnership with Bridgestone, Rota, Motul, TRD, Denso and OMP.
