After the latest set of leaks and updates for the new 2016 Hilux, Toyota (known as Hilux Revo in Thailand) has launched the teaser video for the new pickup as well as showing more details about the new engines.

The new diesel engines are officially called the GD series and comes in two displacement and two states of tune, the 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV. The 1GD-FTV is a 2.8 liter four-cylinder engine while the 2GD-FTV is a 2.4 liter. The new engines come with new tech called Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion or ESTEC, which Toyota claims improves performance as well as fuel economy.

Also confirmed are the new transmissions. As previously reported, the new six speed manual comes with iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) with power and economy modes and new six speed automatics.

The official numbers for the 2.4 liter 2GD-FTV are 160 PS and 400 Nm of torque which is more powerful compared to the 2KD-FTV which has 144 PS and 343 Nm of torque. The range topping 2.8 liter 1GD-FTV engine has 177 PS and 450 NM of torque. For comparison basis, the 1KD-FTV has 163 PS and 343 Nm of torque.
