Toyota's airbag recall woes are not yet over after the company recently announced that they will be recalling 1.43 million hybrid units that carry an airbag defect. Affected models include 2010 – 2012 model years of the Prius and Lexus CT200h.

According to the automaker, affected models may have a cracked weld on the airbag assembly which may cause the inflators to break apart. When this happens, the airbag might partially inflate while the airbag inflator itself could enter the cabin of the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

In the US alone, 482,000 vehicles are involved in the new recall. Toyota did say however that the airbags involved in this particular safety campaign were not manufactured by Takata.

To date, there have been no injuries or deaths linked to the recall.
