Toyota PH to sell FJ Cruiser, takes advantage of JPEPA
Retro-SUV to retail for PhP 1,798,000
At the 3rd World of Toyota motor show, Toyota Motor Philippines revealed what would be their next SUV in the market: the 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser.

The FJ Cruiser is not a new car, having been on sale in other countries since 2006 such as the United States. Previously only gray market importers and dealers sold the FJ Cruiser, but in just over a month's time customers can soon order the FJ Cruiser from Toyota dealerships with the full warranty coverage.
The FJ Cruiser is a throwback to the classic FJ40 Land Cruiser, hence it's retro design. Toyota fitted the SUV with plenty of off-road tech and rugged body-on-frame engineering.

Locally, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation will only bring in one variant, and it gets a 4x4 drivetrain along with a big 4.0 liter VVT-i V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Because it comes with a 4.0 liter engine and is manufactured at the Hino plant in Tokyo, the FJ Cruiser qualifies for the JPEPA trade agreement. To put the FJ's pricing in perspective, the non-JPEPA qualified RAV4 4x4 (with the 2.5 liter engine) retails for PhP 1,963,000.
Thanks to JPEPA, the 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser will have a suggested retail price of PhP 1,798,000 when it officially goes on sale in October. Interesting pricing, don't you think?
If you want to catch the World of Toyota motor show, head on over to the World Trade Center in Pasay City. The show runs until August 18.
