Spied: Volvo V90 Cross Country spotted testing
Newest Volvo wagon gets Cross Country treatment
Spy photographers recently captured an new variant for the Volvo V90. The car pictured here is the raised version of the said wagon called the V90 Cross Country and is slated to make its debut in early 2017.

Underneath the heavy camouflage is the familiar sheetmetal of the V90 wagon. The most evident change here would be the higher ground clearance, typical in Cross Country Volvos. One can expect the V90 Cross Country to also come with black cladding to give it an off-roader look. Also seen here are unique wheels with higher profile tires. The interior is likely to carry over from the standard V90.

Like its sedan counterpart, the S90, the V90 Cross Country rides on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) which also serves the basis for the XC90 mid-size crossover. The modular platform will also be the starting chassis for future Volvo products.

Like its predecessor, the V70 Cross Country, this all-new model will get all-wheel drive standard as well as more powerful engine options. Some of the powertrain options seen in the S90 and V90 will likely be used for the V90 Cross Country. These include a twin-charged 2.0 liter gas engine and an electrically assisted 2.0 twin-charged hybrid. Diesel power is also slated for the V90 Cross Country.
