So far, Mercedes-AMG's flagship supercar is only available as a hardtop. That could change some time in the future after our spy photographers managed to snap some pictures of what appears to be the Roadster variant of the GT.

Compared to the coupe version, the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster gets a smaller back window along with what looks to be a retractable soft top and an integrated third brake light. Other than that, the roadster appears to only get minor revisions from the coupe as it still gets the familiar rear bumper, LED taillights, dual exhaust pipes and muscular wheel arches.

Engine options, along with the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox are likely to carry over as well. Standard models will be driven by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that puts out 468 PS at 6,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque at 1,600 – 5,000 rpm. The more powerful S variant will get an uprated V8 which doles out 517 PS at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque at 1,750 – 4,750 rpm.

There is no word yet when will the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster debut but it is highly likely to be a 2017 model year.
