Volkswagen appears to be prepping for the eventual debut of the next-generation Tiguan after spy shots of the supposed compact crossover were recently posted on the web. The supposed crossover was reportedly seen in Vancouver, Canada where Volkswagen was apparently shooting it for future marketing material.

Immediately apparent on the compact SUV is its sharper and more sophisticated exterior which bears a resemblance to Cross Coupe GTE concept that was revealed during the 2015 North American International Auto Show.

The front end appears to have a larger headlight design along with a new bumper that uses rectangular foglights as opposed to the previous circular design. The hood however resembles the one found on the first generation.

It is the side and rear sections of the crossover where design changes are easily seen. There is a distinct character line that runs along the entire length of the crossover and is accented by what looks to be a chrome trim. Styling cues from the Cross Coupe GTE concept are also found on the rear, specifically at the tailgate, taillights and bumper. Topping it all off is a panoramic sunroof.

In our previous report, Volkswagen officially announced that the second-generation Tiguan will become available with a three-row variant. Only to be sold in North and South America and other key markets excluding China and Europe, the three-row Tiguan is scheduled to arrive in 2017 and will be manufactured at Volkswagen de Mexico's facility in Puebla.

Production of the new-generation Tiguan will begin near the end of 2016.

Volkswagen will reportedly hold the global debut of the next-generation Tiguan at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
