For the past couple of months, our spies have been sending us photos of the next generation A-Class in both standard and A40 AMG guises. For the latest batch of pictures, our spies have snapped what is set to be the most powerful A-Class to date, the A45.

Despite the heavy camouflage, there are distinct cues that separate this particular test car from past spy shots. For starters, there is a more aggressive wheel and tire combination with the test car sporting larger rims. A closer look at the front also sees larger corner air intakes and a deeper chin spoiler. Also, the wider fenders also suggests a suspension arrangement unique to the A45.

On to its side, it also appears that the rear quarter panel has been stretched, further hinting a different rear axle set up. Peeking through that large wheels are larger, uprated brakes. The rest of its side carries over relatively unchanged from the standard A-Class. As for the rear, there is an integrated rear spoiler plus a different rear bumper which is likely to come with a diffuser. While the exhaust pipes look basic, expect the production model to come with a completely different and more aggressive arrangement.

There are still little details surrounding the powertrain combination of the 2019 A45. If one were to take a look at the current specs, it is possible that the hot hatchback could come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. Our spies told us that power output is expected to go beyond the 400 PS range with 4Matic all-wheel drive. A manual transmission model is unlikely as Mercedes-AMG does not offer it in the current A45.
