Report: Honda S2000 successor to be a hybrid sports car?
Honda reportedly developing a sports hybrid successor of the S2000
Honda is reportedly developing the spiritual successor of the brand's well-known 2 seater convertible, the S2000.
According to a report by Motoring AU, the successor of the S2000 successor will make use of the all-new NSX's hybrid powertrain architecture where it employs a mid-mounted engine that powers the rear axle, and two electric motors that drive the front axle.
Engine-wise, sources close to Motoring AU stated that Honda may either use a detuned version of the Civic Type-R's 2.0-liter turbo unit, or the new 1.5-liter turbocharged powerplant that debuted in the Civic Concept at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
Additionally, Honda is aiming to reach at least 300 PS with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine which will be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
