Report: All-new Mitsubishi ASX to be released by 2016
Mitsubishi bosses looking in to EV perfomance model for compact crossover
In a report by Auto Express, Mitsubishi Motors UK Managing Director Lance Bradley said an all new ASX will be out by 2016 with a plug-in hybrid variant. Bradley said the all-wheel drive variant will be out first and the plug-in model will follow afterwards. Auto Express reports the 2016 Outlander will have the styling elements from the XR PHEV II concept revealed in the Geneva Motor Show.
The company is currently looking in to a performance variant for the ASX but hasn't made a financial case for the said model. “When you’re not making money, there are things you can’t do. When you are making money you can do things that are good for the brand, but won’t necessarily make that much money. We’re not at a point where it’ll definitely happen, but we’ve got a lot of senior management talking about it.”
The company is currently investing a lot in plug in hybrid technology and with Mitsubishi sales up because of the Outlander PHEV, it's highly likely that the company will continue with the EV market.
