We have received confirmation from a well-placed source in Toyota Motor Philippines that the Corolla for the Philippine and ASEAN market will be based on the European version debuted in Turkey last week. This cements our speculation about the choice of Toyota to release the Euro-version for the ASEAN market, similar to the automaker’s move with the Camry last year.

Details on options available will be market-specific. The overview video below for the Euro version does show LED daytime running lights, an LCD touchscreen radio, Bluetooth phone connectivity, dual-zone climate control, a multi-information meter in the instrument panel, cruise control, push-start button integrated with a comfort access key, and leather seats. We do think some of the options make it to the top trim. Engine options are likewise yet to be announced. We shall update you once we get more information on these. What we’re sure of is that it will have better legroom and a trunk space as emphasized in the video.

The timeline for the launch however is still quite not clear as of the moment, we are looking at sometime between December 2013 to early 2014. Units coming to the Philippines will definitely be coming from Thailand as completely built-up units (CBU) as with the outgoing generation.
