MMDA to add new payment outlets to settle fines

Has your name popped up on mayhuliba.com, which is the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) website listing down the plate number of traffic violators, and your tight work schedule prevents you from catching Metrobank or the MMDA redemption and payment center during operating hours?

Well fret not as the MMDA has just signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with SM Bills Payment and Bayad Center to make remittance of payment for fines easier for motorists and citizens.

Starting June 20, fines for violating various traffic rules and regulations, and even littering and jaywalking can be settled at SM malls with bills payment facility and also Bayad Center branches nationwide. The facility will initially be available at selected outlets, which have not been revealed as of yet.

This means you can pay on weekends, after office hours (for as long as the mall or the branches are open) in addition to being able to pay thru Metrobank and the agency’s redemption and payment center.

“We are making available all the facilities near them (violators) to settle the fines immediately and avoid being on the alarm list of government agencies when they are applying for a clearance or renewing their vehicle registration,” said MMDA Chairman Emerson Carlos.
