Mercedes-Benz has just revealed its new compact crossover: the 2014 GLA. The upcoming model sets a brand new milestone for the German auto manufacturer, as it will be the first in the brand to be made available with the new 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with fully variable torque distribution.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLA will slot in as the smallest of the brand’s SUVs with the G Class, the GL Class, ML Class and GLK .

The new GLA expresses the very latest in Mercedes design, with compact dimensions measuring 4,417mm long, 1804mm wide and 1494mm tall. The GLA was penned to be ‘muscular and imposing’, as M-B describes it.
The compact crossover will be launched with a pair of diesel and a pair of gasoline engines. For the gasoline variants, engine displacement ranges from 1.6L and 2.0L, with outputs pegged at 158 PS and 214 PS respectively for the GLA 200 and GLA 250. For the two diesel options, the GLA 200 CDI produces 138 PS with 300 Nm while the GLA 220 CDI produces 172 PS with 350 Nm. Both the GLA 200 CDI and GLA 220 CDI have 2.2L diesel engines.
The all new Mercedes Benz GLA will make its official debut at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
