Infiniti reveals new engine with variable compression technology
Infiniti presents new 2.0-liter turbo with variable compression tech

After more than twenty years of development, Infiniti presents the Variable Compression-Turbocharged (VC-T) engine technology. Infiniti claims the new new 2.0 liter four cylinder engine, will make a huge mark in the internal-combustion powertrain technology.
“VC-T technology is a step change for Infiniti. It is a revolutionary next-step in optimizing the efficiency of the internal combustion engine. This technological breakthrough delivers the power of a high-performance 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with a high level of efficiency at the same time,” said, Roland Krueger, president of Infiniti Motor Company.

With VC-T in play, the engine has the ability to raise or lower the height of the pistons' reach. This in turn allows the engine to vary its comprehension ratio between 8:1 and 14:1. The former compression is tailored for high-performance while the latter is suited for fuel efficiency, offering clients the best of both worlds. The engine's control logic allows to apply the optimum ratio depending on driving situations.
Further details about the new engine will be revealed on September 29 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. There is no word yet as to what model will be the first to use Infiniti's VC-T technology.
