Honda has revealed its three all-new VTEC TURBO engines as part of its growing Earth Dreams Technology range. These new engines come in three capacities; 1-liter, 1.5-liter and 2-liter, and are expected to deliver class-leading output and fuel economy.
The new turbo engines will be direct-injection featuring Honda’s VTEC variable valve timing technology. They will join the 1.6-liter diesel and hybrid powertrains that will be used in future global vehicle models to be used in specific markets.

With the current trend of using lower displacement engines, Honda has built their engines on a newly developed platform to work with its newly developed turbo systems. The new 1-liter 3-cylinder and the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder have been designed with low friction technology to achieve class-leading output and environmental performance.

Honda will debut the VTEC Turbo in Europe with the high-output 2-liter, direct injection, 4-cyclinder turbo engine of the upcoming Civic Type R. With an estimated output in excess of 280 PS and EURO 6 compliance, the result will be a highly efficient and highly responsive engine.
