Bus crash along Quirino Highway leaves 4 dead, dozens wounded
Reckless bus was headed to San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan
Earlier today, a bus traveling along Quirino Highway got into a major accident which left four people dead and many injured. The bus involved in the accident was from Valisno Express.
According to a report by DZMM, two were killed on the spot when the bus slammed into the arch which marks the boundary of Quezon City and Caloocan. There are also reports of at least 30 people injured with 6 in critical condition. The crash victims were brought to Tala Hospital.
Surviving passengers noted that the driver was already being flagged down along Fairview for reckless driving, but the driver ignored authorities. The survivors also said that the driver lost control of the bus while approaching a curve. The impact was strong enough to split the bus open from the roof upwards.
The driver, George Pacis, allegedly ran away from the scene and is being pursued by the authorities. The conductor was among those injured in the accident. The Valisno Express fleet has been suspended for 30 days and the LTFRB states that all Valisno Express drivers should undergo road safety seminars and drug tests. The LTFRB will also require police and NBI clearance from the suspended bus line and its drivers.
The LTFRB has confiscated the fleet's plates and will check the bus line's fleet for roadworthiness.
