BMW and Toyota is seeking to expand its partnership further than their existing colaboration on diesel engine and lithium-ion battery technology which started late last year. According to a Germany-based news magazine both companies are looking into working together on other areas possible.

This news comes in timely after BMW's joint venture with PSA Peugeot Citroen is seemingly coming to an end due to a rivalry between PSA and Opel of GM Motors.

While BMW may profit from the partnership with Toyota's knowledge in hybrid technology, Toyota on the other hand can learn new things from developing light-weight construction from BMW. The French carmaker is also expected to invest ample amount of its resources in Toyota for new technologies.
