Chevrolet has debuted the new Cruze at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
The automaker said in a press release that the new sedan’s design is based on the Tru Concept coupe it showcased at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
Following the ‘Design with a Heartbeat’ design language, the new Cruze features a much taller-looking body with shorter front and rear overhangs.
Up front, the pointed head lights, large lower grille and trapezoidal fog light clusters give the car a more conservative look than the recently facelifted, current-generation Cruze revealed in New York.
The side profile is more slab-sided, with the high door handles and high belt line accentuating the Cruze’s height.
At the rear, larger tail lights and an integrated trunk spoiler give it a sportier look.

The new Cruze will be available with two, new Ecotec four-cylinder engines co-developed by General Motors and Chinese car maker SAIC. Chevrolet said these new engines would improve fuel economy by 14 to 21 percent over its predecessor.
One is a 1.4-liter, direct-injection turbocharged unit, while the other is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated unit. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automated manual or a 7-speed DCG dual-clutch transmission.
