Facelifted 2024 Toyota Hilux makes its way to Indonesia
Earlier in the month, the 2024 Toyota Hilux was revealed for the Australian market with a dose of electrification courtesy of a new mild hybrid system. Along with the 48V mild hybrid diesel, the pickup truck also received a facelift for the 2024 model year.
Just a few weeks after the Australian market reveal, the facelifted Toyota Hilux also makes its way to the ASEAN region. And surprisingly, Indonesia gets first dibs this time, ahead of pickup truck-loving Thailand.
The Indonesian market Hilux is now sporting the new honeycomb mesh grille with the “HILUX” spelled on it. Along with a more heavily sculpted front bumper, the Hilux V and G variants for Indonesia receive LED headlights that are similar to the ones seen on the PH-market Hilux Conquest and GR-S. But other than that, the rest of the body’s design has been carried over from the pre-updated version.
However, unlike the Australian market Hilux which has the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbodiesel with 48V mild-hybrid assist, the Indonesian market version has not received its dose of electrification just yet. It remains powered by the smaller 2GD-FTV with 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque. While Toyota Indonesia offers four-wheel-drive and rear diff lock for the facelifted Hilux, the new update did not come with the Multi-Terrain Select system.
With the facelifted Hilux making its way to the ASEAN region, there’s good reason to believe our market could get the new look sooner rather than later. But as for the mild-hybrid powertrain, we may have to wait until March fo the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show to get a clearer picture.
